This is our online evolving hub describing what we have done, what we are doing and how we are sharing the blessings of what we have been given in this farm and beyond.

Growing food - Learning about the land and ourselves - Nurturing the Auroville flame

Starting in the year 2000 as a small vegetable growing area, Buddha Garden evolved into an 11 acre farm which for the last 25 years has grown food for the community of Auroville in South India.

During that time the farm became a learning hub where both local people and others from all over the world came to participate in the work and learn about our Earth friendly food growing practice.

In 2022 we were told by the new organization in Auroville that a VIP road was planned to go across the farm. That there would be no room for farms in the area which would be used to build a mall, restaurants and car parks for the nearby Visitors Centre.

As the uncertainty has increased as to whether the farm will survive or not, I have found, to my surprise, that the Buddha Garden vision has expanded to embrace this new reality. That while we have the land we will continue to grow food for the community while developing ways of sharing what we have produced and learnt. Setting up this website is the first step of doing that

Here I feel as if we are holding the Buddha Garden and Auroville flame that we have nurtured over the 25 years of the farm’s existence. A flame that has given me so much as I look forward to new adventures.
